I recently hosted an outdoor birthday party for my daughter turning six years old (they grow too fast!). If you are familiar with New Jersey in January, it can be quite cold so I was a bit nervous how our little guests would tolerate the weather. Luckily for us, it turned out to be a sunny day. I wanted to keep things simple and inexpensive while also exciting for the kids while creating memories for my daughter. What’s more fun than painting? We decided a Picasso paint party was the perfect activity to entertain the little ones. We used Crayola washable paint and aprons to keep things mess free. Each budding artist received brushes and a personal paint palette to choose their favorite colors.
Below is my shopping list.

Prior to the party I used the blue painter’s tape to tape a design all over the canvas, see photo below. The kids then put their imaginations to work while using different colors and patterns to decorate the canvas. After they finished painting I quickly removed the painter’s tape to reveal a fantastic and bright unique design on each canvas (a masterpiece!!). We let the canvases dry while we chowed down on pizza and cake, and they were dry and ready to go home within a half hour! Best part? The canvas doubles as a party favor!
