The dinner table is more than just a place where we sit to eat. Today, more than ever it is a place a family or friends can gather around to share special moments together. Spending time at the dinner table gives us the opportunity to escape our hectic days while sharing in conversation, jokes, and at our table, sharing our favorite moments from the day.
Given the importance of a memorable dinner, taking the extra effort to decorate it in a special way for the Valentine’s Day holiday can make it even that much more special. Below I have laid out some tips and thoughts on how to add some Valentine’s Day flair to your table.
Flowers

Gorgeous flowers can be an inexpensive way to make any table feel more beautiful. It’s difficult to top the beauty of nature itself. Flowers work for any occasion and can brighten and freshen any room of the house. For Valentine’s Day I obviously suggest a beautiful medley of pinks, reds, and whites. Two of the places I have found to have inexpensive yet beautiful flowers are Trader Joes and Produce Junction.
Fancy dinnerware or china

For our wedding we received beautiful Kate Spade China settings. For the first few years we barely used them, thinking we were saving them for a special occasion. Having children has helped us realize that any ordinary day can be made into a special occasion. Why wait for a special occasion when you can make one today? Our little girls love feeling fancy!
Sweet Treats

As you may have discovered from some of my previous posts, I love the occasional sweet treat. If you haven’t tried my Best Ever Sugar Cookie Recipe used for the Best Ever Valentine’s Day Cookies, I highly recommend it. Colorful and beautifully decorated treats can serve a dual purpose of brightening up your dinner table while providing a tasty incentive for your little one to finish their meals.
Pink Drinks

I love to think pink! Any pink beverage will do to add some additional Valentine’s Day pizazz. Make sure you use a clear glass in order to let that pink shine through! For the little ones, sparkling pink lemonade or regular pink lemonade does the trick. In our house, the girls prefer their glasses to be fancy when we have special dinners.
I love this Scattered Heart Table Runner which totally transformed my simple table into something a little more sweet!
