Simple daily habits can have a meaningful impact on your overall well-being. To kick off the fitness aspect of the Simple & Sweet Blog, I challenge you to a healthier routine for 7 days. Join me and the rest of the Simple & Sweet community as we work together towards the goal of a healthy body and mind.
I ask anyone who participates to share their experience and be a part of the wider Simple & Sweet team. I also challenge you to challenge someone else in your life to join us in making better choices for their well-being. I am excited to hear about the results as we kick off this journey together!
1. Drink More Water!
Water does so many positive things for your body. You should be drinking at least half your body weight in ounces per day. For example, if you way 150 lbs. you should drink at least 75 oz. of water. Did you know that the human adult body is made up of up to 60% water? The brain and heart contain up to 73% water!
2. Add Lemon to Your Water!
Start your day with a hot or warm mug of lemon water. Your body benefits from drinking lemon water in many ways. Drinking a glass of lemon water helps with digestion, weight loss, improves skin, and a great source of vitamin C. I have been a big fan of lemon water for many years. However, it was not until I developed a kidney stone that I added this to my daily routine. The citric acid in lemons helps prevent kidney stones!
3. Move Your Body!
It is recommended that you get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. I challenge everyone to do this by taking walks, jogs, bike rides, or whatever movement works for you! Bonus points if you involve your little ones.
4. Build Muscle!
We will start off easy, but build from here.
For beginners: I challenge you to do 3 sets of 10 pushups and 3 sets of 10 squats the first, third and seventh day.
For intermediate: I challenge you to do 3 sets of 20 pushups and 3 sets of 20 squats the first, third and seventh day.
For advanced: I challenge you to do 3 sets of 30 pushups and 3 sets of 30 squats the first, third and seventh day.
5. Get More Sleep!
I know there are not enough hours in the day, but sleep is extremely important to our overall health. Not enough sleep is linked to higher body weight, greater risk of heart disease and stroke, a lower metabolism, and depression. I challenge everyone to go to sleep 30 minutes earlier than they typically would.
Push ups? I’m not ready for that. What can I replace them with?
Yes push ups!! You can do them on your knees! Let’s get you movin lady!
Never thought about that great suggestion. Thank you

I am in!
Yay!! You better do the advanced option for building muscle!
Thanks for the encouragement Jacqui! I get lazy with hydration, especially this time of year. I’m going to be more intentional for a week and track my water intake. Enjoying some warm right now with lemon, actually a nice way to slide into the morning!
Of course!! I find I am able to drink more water if I add in some lemon!
Love the Blog! If you have a treadmill in your home you can also do them by having both feet on the edges, off the belt and hold on to the bar and do them. I have arthritis in my knees, when I belonged to a gym that was the modification they suggested. This blig has inspired me to get back to it!
Thank you for checking out the blog!! That is a great idea for a modification! Thanks for sharing!!
Well Jacqueline, I decided I needed to do some exercise to help maintain my recent weight loss of 37 lbs ( for health reasons) and I needed some motivation. Saw your blog and thought why not follow your advice! I had to google how to do squats correctly. Oh my goodness, after managing to do 5 ( yes, just one set of 5!), I think I’m dying! Forget the push ups!! But it’s a start! And my hips held so that’s a relief! Tomorrow I will aim to do more. Baby steps for me! I might need 7 months for this challenge, not seven days!
I’m enjoying your blog. Good luck with it. X
Thank you so much for checking out my blog Susan!! Baby steps are a great start! Bravo to you for starting! Keep it going and it will get easier for you!! xoxo
