The recipe I am about to share is not only a healthy way to kick off the day, but an activity I use as an opportunity to bond with my girls making something fun and delicious!
As a parent, it can be a challenge to get your kids to eat their veggies and get all the nutrients they need for a balanced diet. Let’s be honest… as an adult it can be a challenge to get all the vitamins and nutrients you need. One tasty and easy solution I have found to get a healthy start is by making delicious smoothies packed with healthy and natural ingredients. I noticed that if I begin my day with a healthy breakfast, I am much more likely continue eating healthy the rest of the day.
When my daughters noticed how much I enjoyed making and drinking smoothies, they wanted in! My youngest daughter is a VERY picky eater and this recipe is how I get her to eat a fruit and veggie smoothie EVERY DAY!! Both of my girls now ask for a smoothie on a daily basis and it’s so easy to make! It’s also fun for them to be able to help out when making it.
As you probably already know fruit and veggie based smoothies come packed with health benefits. Not only is it an easy and fun way to increase your fruit and veggie intake, but the right smoothie can also help with digestion and hydration. Spinach is packed full of the fiber you need to help your body digest. Need some energy? The B vitamins found in leafy greens can help promote your nervous system and give you that extra boost you need to start your day. Concerned about your skin? This smoothie is packed with vitamin A, C, and antioxidants to help you achieve that clear glowing complexion! Want to lose some weight? Replacing a meal with the right smoothie can help lower your calorie intake while fueling your body with healthy foods. I think you are starting to get the idea! Smoothies are magnificent, especially the Tropical Green Mango Smoothie!
This recipe below makes enough for my two beautiful babes and myself and is truly Simple & Sweet!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of spinach
- 2 cups of frozen mangos
- 1 banana
- 1 cup of coconut water
- 1 cup of orange juice
My babes like their smoothies on the thicker side but if you prefer more of a juice texture just add more water (extra hydration!).
Instructions:
- Add 2 cups of spinach to your blender
- Add 2 cups of mango – we use frozen organic mangos
- Add 1 banana cut up
- Add 1 cup of coconut water
- Add 1 cup of orange juice
- Blend for 1-2 mins
- Pour & enjoy!
- Optional Additions:
- 2 scoops of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides– When making smoothies for my children I do not add this as their little bodies already produce plenty of collagen. However, after the age of twenty- five the production of collagen begins to slow. Collagen Peptides are paleo and keto friendly, while packing additional protein and amino acids that are essential to our health.
